EXHUMED United States

EXHUMED are the band. Formed in 1990, these Southern Californian gorelords rescued OBSCENE EXTREME 2001 from a near-Old Testament flood, playing one of those legendary against-the-odds sets that has come to define the world’s ultimate grindcore party.

Effectively taking a break shortly after 2003’s fierce ‘ANATOMY IS DESTINY’, it began to look like we'd never see that classic display of gore-fuelled death metal equalled. EXHUMED heard our cries, rising from their slumber in 2010 with a whole new symphony of sickness, 2011's ‘ALL GUTS, NO GLORY’, we now have a second chance to show our appreciation, to scream their name and fill the pit with chaos. Get ready for another legendary EXHUMED performance, at OBSCENE EXTREME 2013!!!

In 1991 guitarist Matt Harvey and drummer Col Jones decided the best way to combat the boredom inherent in being a suburban teenager was to emulate their favorite bands and start one of their own. Energized by the rising tide of late 80s / early 90s Death Metal and Grindcore, the two laid the foundation that has remained at the core of the Exhumed sound. Their sonic collision of Death Metal, Thrash, Grindcore and traditional Metal was christened “Gore Metal” by the band themselves on their 1998 debut album of the same name.

After disbanding in '05, Harvey reunited with guitarist Wes Caley in 2010 to start writing the band's fourth album with drummer Danny Walker and bassist Leon del Muerte. “All Guts, No Glory” was released the summer of 2011 by the band's longtime partners in grime, Relapse Records. Although the band originally planned to play just a handful of festival shows around the album's release, the reaction to the band's return and new album (Ranked #13 in the top 50 albums of 2011 by DecibelMagazine, #11 by Pitchfork) quickly presented them with the opportunity to headline tours in the US and Europe. With the enlistment of the new, road-ready rhythm section of drummer Mike Hamilton and bassist Rob Babcock, the band hit the road relentlessly for the better part of '11 and shows no signs of slowing down going into 2012. Through four full-length albums, numerous line-up changes, copious amounts of demo cassettes and split 7” EP's, and countless tours across America, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Japan, and Australia through the years, Exhumed have continued to find new ways to drag underground music further through the muck and deeper into the grave.
